Painted Pond

It's not a cool rug, it's painted!

After taking a week off to enjoy Nova Scotia and spending plenty of time by the ocean, it's no surprise seaside cottages are on my mind.  I was pleased to find this wonderful place that is full of fun and colour, and in a not so typical cottage way.  The designer and client went out of there way to avoid typical Oceanside colours and themes.  So for this 70's era cottage on Oyster Bay, green is perfect.  Interior Designer Christina Murphy is the creative force behind this home.  She enlisted the help of painter Christopher Rollinson, to make magic on the floors of the sunken living room.

Fabulous contrast of white laquer with chocolate brown in both didning room and living room.  Green seems to balance it all out.

This little corner in the master suite is where fun meets luxury.   The bold green and crisp white keep things refreshing but the look is still tailored, which is important in a bedroom.   Serenity isn't always delivered in soft colours.  Here we can find a fabulous mix of vintage furnishings and playful style. There is a wonderful tranquility to this space.   The cottage was featured in House Beautiful , if you are interested in exploring more.
