Barn Beams

Somewhere in rural Connecticut is a picturesque traditional red barn, that has been converted into a rustic and refined family home. It managed to retain its original ceiling beams and plank flooring, and as a result the home is filled with incredible character and warmth that only wood can provide. This entire project was managed by the very talented firm S Russell Groves, who on this particular project managed everything from architecture, Interior Design, Exterior Grounds Design, Art Consulting and more. The result is really spectacular.

A beautiful and balanced mix of modern and vintage furniture adds plenty of sophistication to this barn. Instead of the predictable slip covered sofas and distressed furnishings; we see sleek upholstery and elegant furniture. A mix of urban and industrial lighting makes the look up even more exciting.

A modern kitchen with painted cabinetry speaks to this family's need for functionality. Plenty of counter space and enough room for a couple of cooks. The colour of the cabinetry compliments the natural tones in the ceiling beams above and creates a very soothing space.

In this bedroom retreat, furniture is tall and slim lined. The elevated bed, and slim rocking chairs, allows this room to display its best features. High vaulted ceilings and natural light. Below, a view of the pool and guest house, in the homes picture perfect setting.
